Clem Naylor
Biography:
Clem Naylor has been a part-time translator since 2007, when he was studying Arabic and French at Oxford University.
As well as Dalia Taha's Fireworks, his translation work includes Liwaa Yazji's Q and Q for The Royal Exchange, Manchester, and Mohammad Al Attar's Withdrawal, for The Royal Court Theatre, London.
When he is not translating, he works as a diplomat for the UK government. His last posting was in Cairo, and he is now the UK's special envoy for the Sahel region, in North-West Africa.
