David Tushingham
Biography:
David Tushingham’s interest in translation began while commissioning German playwrights as a dramaturg for the Deutsches Schauspielhaus in Hamburg.
He translates plays from German into English, ranging from Dea Loher to Rainer Werner Fassbinder, and from Rainald Goetz to Clemens Setz.
Recent productions include Terror by Ferdinand von Schirach (Lyric Hammersmith/Brisbane Festival), The Bee in Me by Roland Schimmelpfennig (Unicorn Theatre), a Christmas broadcast of Winter Solstice on BBC Radio 3 and the book Theatre.Dance.Politics by Falk Richter (Alexander Verlag, Berlin).
His writing credits include adapting Salman Rushdie’s Haroun and the Sea of Stories for the National Theatre.
